ROMSEY CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC
Back Pain Neck Pain Sports Injuries Massage 01794 519330
Here at the Romsey Chiropractic Clinic, we provide first class care to people of all ages that present with a variety of musculoskeletal complaints. These range from the traditional neck and back complaints, to tension headaches, shoulder and elbow complaints, knee strains, ankle sprains, postural and even jaw-joint pains. We help many a sportsperson overcome their injuries and improve their performance.
Whilst our primary aim is to get our patients better and back to activity as quickly as possible, we also promote optimal musculoskeletal health, treating and advising patients in joint and muscle injury prevention.
New Patients to the Clinic need to set aside about 45 minutes. During this time you will undergo a thorough consultation, where we will discuss your complaint and ask you relevant questions about your medical history. A detailed examination will follow (including orthopaedic and neurological tests) to discover the cause of your problem and rule out any contra-indications to treatment. (On the rare occasion that further tests are required, we would refer you back to your General Practitioner or another relevant health care professional; we are able to refer privately for tests such as X-Ray, MRI or Ultrasound Scans if this route is preferred) Once you have been examined, you will be given a working diagnosis, which is clearly explained to you, and a treatment plan specific to your needs is discussed.
Treatment involves hands-on care to improve joint mobility and muscle movement. The aim of treatment is to reduce pain, inflammation, and mechanical stress /strain on overloaded nerves, muscles and joints, improving function. Treatment is suited to the needs of the individual being treated hence an elderly patient with a very stiff spine would require a more conservative treatment approach as compared to a 25 year-old year super-fit Rugby player! The primary treatment used by a Chiropractor is manipulation, but each treatment is tailored to the individual’s needs, with a package of care that may include spinal manipulation or joint mobilization, soft tissue massage, and exercises, as an example.
Various soft tissue techniques may also be used to reduce associated muscle adhesion and long standing scar tissue including Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, Dry-Needling and Graston techniques (http://www.grastontechnique.com). In certain cases, referral to one of our on-site massage specialists may be warranted.
Specific exercise instruction is discussed with every patient in an effort to recondition associated weak or injured muscles, thus speeding up recovery times and reducing possible recurrences. All of the practitioners at the Romsey Chiropractic Clinic are passionate about injury prevention and individual self-management advice about lifestyle, work and exercise habits is strongly promoted.
